Here’s how you can still put together an Easter brunch

For before or after you’ve had your fill of sweet treats and deviled eggs.

So here we are, hunched over our makeshift offices in the overly-comfortable comfort of our homes, sipping gourmet coffee that we’ve now found time to brew. Our lifestyle has now retreated to the indoors, where we’re readjusting to social norms by seeing our friends, family and colleagues on our screens a little more often.

So how is Easter supposed to go? While some have bid goodbye to Easter this year such as confectionery giant Peeps who shut down its factories amidst COVID-19 concerns, others embraced new traditions like this Oregan chocolatier who created masked Easter chocolates he’s called “Covid Bunnies”.

Well, all hope is not lost. These eight restaurants have created exclusive home dining menus and programs for you to enjoy the coming Spring break in gastronomical style.

The Halia

We too would have loved to host our Easter brunch on the outdoor deck in a UNESCO-recognized tropical garden, but for now, that idea works for thematic decoration. The Halia’s new delivery service includes dishes such as Goat’s Cheese Mousse, a fresh bowl of dairy topped with bee pollen and pickles, the restaurant’s signature Spicy Chili Crab Spaghettini, and the Oven Baked Halibut, where the paper bag it’s prepared in is brimming with flavorful soy ginger broth along with a side of sesame Japanese rice topped with wakame and truffle aioli.

Da Paolo Dempsey Restaurant & Bar

Italian fare is taken care of by Da Paolo, whose dining options include a variety of pizzas, pastas and baked goods to enjoy at home. Besides the classic salami and stacked beef lasagnas, meat-free options include a roasted vegetable pizza, mozzarella and basil pesto panini, and lemon pound cake. For dessert, you wouldn’t want to forget some good ol’ tiramisu.

Da Paolo’s delivery service also entitles you to top up your Italian larder with the necessary oils, sauces, wines, and pastas, from classic tagliatelle to squid ink tagliolini.

Orders can be made on the website two days in advance.

The Line

The Line by Shangri-La Hotel has an extensive take-home menu, but we’re most intrigued by the wholesome dishes they’ve curated for wellness. Among which include a rice bowl with miso and sesame flavors, rainbow trout and wild seaweed salad, and fresh rice paper rolls stuffed with greens and herbed salmon.

Shang Palace

When one thinks “comfort food”, you’ll start to crave for hearty, feel-good meals like warm bowls of soup. For all the Cantonese dishes you love, Shang Palace is bringing home your favorites, such as braised noodles tossed in truffle oil and barbecued roasted meats, like this plateful of honey-glazed Iberico pork loin.

Fat Prince

For some easy meat prep, Fat Prince’s smoky kebabs include chicken shish and roasted lamb, the latter comprising an assembly of zhoug, olives, dukkah, arugula and fried garlic. The restaurant also accommodates all sorts of dietary requirements be it vegetarian, vegan, dairy- or gluten-free. If you don’t prefer your grilled proteins with flatbread, you can opt to have them in a kebab bowl that’s tossed with all the goodness of Middle Eastern spices.

Place your orders on the website, via email at info@fatprincesg.com or call +65 6221 7794. Closed on Sundays.

Neon Pigeon

Now you definitely have more time on your hands to refine that one-shot drink you call mixology. Elevate your dining scene at home with a little extra izakaya vibe with Japanese tapas and tipples from Neon Pigeon. We’re talking wagyu beef dumplings, tempura and juicy rump that’s grilled over charcoal fire and flavored with kombu vinegar and shichimi. Pair it with sakes of your choice and throw in a couple of cocktails while you’re at it.

Summerlong

Spring break definitely feels like summer here on our shores, so it’s a good idea to cool down with Summerlong’s salad bowls or some fresh yoghurt dips with grilled meats. My personal favorite is the charred eggplant hummus, which was a bright addition to our brunch spread. The only way to wipe it out is to slather it all on all the flatbreads you can order.
