The Priceless Privilege of Membership

Mastercard’s famous tagline rings loud and clear, especially for the 64 privileged golfers participating in this year’s Maybank World Mastercard Tournament held in May at Tanah Merah Country Club. Playing at the challenging and scenic Tampines Course, they enjoyed a day of fun with the added opportunity to win valuable prizes.

In addition to owning a card that offers a wealth of experiences and rewards, Maybank World Mastercard cardholders also get to play in this coveted corporate event. And even before they tee off, everyone was a winner with a goodie bag packed with high-value items including golf balls sponsored by ID Integrated, an adidas polo tee, adidas bucket hat, and adidas shoe sack.

BMW stepped up to sponsor the hole-in-one prize of a BMW i4 at hole 4, while W Atelier put up $30,000 worth of designer furnishings for an ace at hole 14.

There was much to play for and competition was keen in the tournament proper. Ms Tan Lee Ching came in second runner-up and won an adidas lightweight 8.5-inch stand bag and HUGO BOSS watch. First runner-up position went to Mr Foo Mao Jing who took home an adizero stand bag and HUGO BOSS watch. Mr Preston Josiah Matsukawi was the champion golfer and won an adidas lightweight cart bag and HUGO BOSS watch.

The novelty games gave all participants a chance at winning a golf prize even if they couldn’t keep up with the top golfers. Mr Tay Chong Sian boomed his drive 229m to win the Longest Drive and an adidas Boston bag. Mr Clinton Ang’s accurate tee shot landed on the line to win the Nearest to Line and an adidas Boston bag. In the Nearest To Pin at hole 6, Mr Zulkiflee bin Ally’s shot landed just 1.35m from the hole to earn him an adidas zip pouch and Arbutus watch. Mr Tay Chong Sian showed that he’s as good with his iron as he is with his driver by winning the Nearest To Pin on hole 16, and taking home an adidas zip pouch and Arbutus watch.

The fun and games continued even after the sun went down. Apart from the delicious dinner that Tanah Merah Country Club is known for providing at their corporate events, there was also a lucky draw promising highly valuable prizes. In the fifth top prize Ms Yeo Peck Lay went home with $300 worth of merchandise, as did Mr Lim Hock Eng with $500 worth of items for his fourth prize, both sponsored by Eurokars. Myoko Ski Resort gave away a four-day/three-night stay in a Japan golf resort worth $2,500 to Mr Tan Chong San for winning the third prize. Mr Chong Yu Tzy won a similar Japan golf resort stay from Myoko Ski Resort for his second prize. The top lucky draw prize of a cart bag sponsored by adidas went to Mr Foo Mao Jing.

With enhanced lifestyle benefits, Maybank World Mastercard cardmembers can earn 10X TREATS Points (equivalent to 4 air miles) at select golfing and shopping brands, dining establishments, and petrol stations. In addition to the 10X TREATS Points, cardmembers can earn 10 per cent off at participating golf merchants. Cardmembers can also earn accelerated rewards of up to 8X TREATS Points (equivalent to 3.2 air miles) on foreign currency transactions, with a minimum monthly spend of $4,000.
