Katsu By Kyu

This Korean-inspired tonkatsu concept is Singapore’s first tonkatsu specialist to use Jeju Pork exclusively, prized for its richer flavour, firmer texture and satisfying bite.

Katsu by Kyu centres on premium Jeju pork and freshly milled Korean special-grade Samgwang rice, the highest classification for Korean rice. Each cut of pork is dry-aged for another 10 days to further concentrate its flavour while enhancing tenderness, before being finished over rice-straw charcoal just before service for a distinctive crisp and lightly charred exterior.

The cosy 44-seater restaurant is designed as a rustic hanok with Korean-inspired aesthetics. Beyond the signature Classic Jeju Loin tonkatsu ($36), diners can choose from specialties including Centre-Cut Premium Jeju Loin ($42), Kadaif Prawn Katsu ($38), mixed katsu sets (from $32), and Panko Crusted Beef Short-Rib Patty ($38), featuring house-made beef tteokgalbi folded with Korean kimchi.

Also worth trying is the Korean Cold Flat Udon ($18), served with a choice of three dipping sauces: soy paste, pickled chilli or roasted sesame.

Whuchu Korean Dining

The brand-new WHUCHU at UE Square reimagines ssam, one of Korea’s most cherished dining traditions, as a refined experience rooted in freshness, fermentation, and craftsmanship.

The restaurant offers two distinct Korean dining expressions: Wellness-led ssam-baps by day and premium aged BBQ by night, complemented by a classic Korean outdoor beer garden.

With a hwangto, or ochre-earth, interior rooted in Korean art and wellness traditions, WHUCHU is also home to Singapore’s first cave-inspired Himalayan salt ageing rooms, which are integrated into the dining experience.

Diners can look forward to fresh farm-to-table wrap vegetables sourced directly from Korea; authentic Korean jeotgal, including Salted Pollock Roe, Seasoned Sea Squirt, Spicy Fermented Oysters and Spicy Salted Squid; freshly prepared handmade tofu; 100 per cent certified Jeju pork aged in-house; and Signature Matcha and Ube Makgeolli.

All premium BBQ sets are served with four side dishes, seasonal wrap vegetables, traditional side dishes, and ssamjang sauce. Each Ssam-Bap Set (from $36 per person) comes with traditional pot rice, Beef Perilla Seed Seaweed Soup, four varieties of jeotgal, three side dishes, and a full wrap vegetable spread.
