EAST Hong Kong Redefines Hospitality with Bold, Creative Collaborations

At EAST Hong Kong, the stay is only the beginning. With immersive art and fashion pop-ups, a craft beer made from upcycled ingredients, and sustainability initiatives, the property is proving that a hotel can be a cultural hub, a creative playground, and a green leader all at once.

EAST Hong Kong has never been content with simply offering a place to sleep. Located in the neighbourhood of Taikoo Shing, the hotel lives by its brand concept, Arrive At A Different Place – a philosophy that shapes not only its design and dining, but also its partnerships, programming, and planet-friendly initiatives. This summer, that vision comes to life in two exciting ways: Through a boundary-pushing fashion and art collaboration, and the launch of an inventive, sustainable craft beer.

Dreaming in Style: The “DREAMER” Collaboration

Wallace and Godfrey Kwan

From now until 31 August, EAST Hong Kong joins forces with Wallace Stores for DREAMER, a first-of-its-kind collaboration that brings together fashion, culture, and sustainability. Founded in 2023 by fashion insider Wallace Kwan, Wallace Stores is known for spotlighting the cultural significance of iconic designs, particularly those from Maison Martin Margiela. For this project, Wallace teams up with his brother, the acclaimed artist Godfrey, to transform the hotel into a vibrant fashion archive.

Guests can experience the collaboration across the property. The Lobby Domain features an artfully reimagined bedroom setting with a bed and mirror sprayed by Godfrey, while the 1/F Domain hosts a pop-up of co-branded merchandise and repurposed design elements like an old wine cupboard from the hotel’s rooftop bar, Sugar.

“Whether it’s in fashion or hospitality, DREAMER is about embracing creativity and fleeting moments,” says Wallace. “This is the first time Godfrey and I have collaborated, and seeing our ideas take shape here has been incredible.”

Brewing Change with Bao Beer’s New Flavour

Creativity at EAST isn’t confined to spaces – it flows straight into the bar taps. Partnering with local brewery H.K. Lovecraft, the hotel has unveiled a new version of Bao Beer, a dark lager infused with coffee and genmai (Japanese brown rice). The beer is brewed using surplus bread from FEAST and spent coffee grounds from the Lobby Domain café, repurposing 50 kilograms of bread and 20–30 kilograms of coffee grounds per batch.

The addition of genmai, toasted and infused over 48 hours, lends a nutty sweetness that balances beautifully with the beer’s rich, malty notes. Guests can enjoy it on draught at Sugar or in cans throughout the hotel.

“Bao Beer turns unavoidable waste into something delicious and distinctive,” says Executive Chef Graham Long. “It’s a creative process that reflects our values as much as our taste.”

For General Manager Jennifer Cheung, these initiatives are more than just novelties – they’re a reflection of what EAST stands for. “We want guests to see that a hotel can be a platform for art, design, and sustainability,” she says. “It’s about creating memorable experiences that also have a positive impact.”

From fashion archives to sustainable brewing, EAST Hong Kong is showing travellers that the most inspiring stays are those that go beyond the expected; where every detail tells a story, and every collaboration adds a new layer to the experience.
