How KD&F Builds Homes That Last

For Khoon Development & Friends (KD&F), building homes is more than design and construction. It’s about preserving memories, fostering trust, and creating new beginnings.

Three years ago, key members of the KD&F team were invited into a quiet post-war home that had stood for decades on a 10,000-square-foot plot. Weathered yet dignified, the house belonged to an Indian family whose roots in the neighbourhood stretched back more than sixty years. For them, the property was more than bricks and beams – it was the keeper of family traditions, festive gatherings, and stories passed down through generations.

Though time had taken its toll and living conditions were increasingly difficult, the family resisted earlier offers from developers who viewed the house simply as land. What they wanted instead was someone who would listen, understand, and ensure they could return to the same soil after redevelopment.

That meeting became the start of a journey that would define KD&F’s approach. Over hours of heartfelt conversation, the family shared their hopes and non-negotiables: To keep living on the land they cherished, to preserve a beloved old tree, and to reuse timber from the façade as a nod to their history.

Founded on the belief that every project should be treated as if it were their own home, KD&F embraced these requests. After months of patient discussions, the plan took shape. The land would be subdivided into four houses, one of which would be the family’s, on the very corner where their old home once stood. To ease their transition, KD&F provided a temporary residence for the construction period, supporting them every step of the way.

The redevelopment was more than a construction project. It was a relationship built on trust. The family often invited the team over for meals, while KD&F, in turn, poured their hearts into preserving what they could of the old home. Beams, carvings, and smaller details were carefully integrated into the new design. When the new home was completed, it blended modern comforts with traditional Indian influences, from intricate woodwork to warm earthy tones.

As a final tribute, KD&F presented the family with a scale model of their old home and commissioned paintings capturing its familiar corners – gestures that ensured their past would always remain close.

This project is a clear reflection of KD&F’s ethos. Led by industry veterans with decades of experience in construction, real estate, and finance, the company specialises in bespoke redevelopment models tailored to landowners’ needs. From “Subdivide and Uplift” partnerships that unlock land value while allowing families to stay rooted, to full-service build-together solutions and joint ventures, KD&F combines technical expertise with a personal, human approach.

Looking back at the family’s joy when they returned to their new home, KD&F sees the project not just as a success, but as a reminder of why they exist: To build with care, respect, and friendship, turning heritage into a foundation for the future.
