Three years ago, key members of the KD&F team were invited into a quiet post-war home that had stood for decades on a 10,000-square-foot plot. Weathered yet dignified, the house belonged to an Indian family whose roots in the neighbourhood stretched back more than sixty years. For them, the property was more than bricks and beams – it was the keeper of family traditions, festive gatherings, and stories passed down through generations.
Though time had taken its toll and living conditions were increasingly difficult, the family resisted earlier offers from developers who viewed the house simply as land. What they wanted instead was someone who would listen, understand, and ensure they could return to the same soil after redevelopment.
That meeting became the start of a journey that would define KD&F’s approach. As a final tribute, KD&F presented the family with a scale model of their old home and commissioned paintings capturing its familiar corners – gestures that ensured their past would always remain close.
