Demystifying the world of whisky at The Wall

Named after the preserved brick walls of the 100-year-old shophouse in Tanjong Pagar that houses it, The Wall is a whisky and sumiyaki bar that aims to de-mystify the art of drinking eau de vie or "water of life", making it accessible to a wider audience.

Whisky, and the culture associated with it, takes on a friendlier, more contemporary tone at The Wall. For novices who want a better understanding of the golden nectar, they can opt for a variety of whisky flights or enjoy it by the glass, with a choice of 20 top-quality whiskies available. If sipping on it in its pure form is still a little too intense for some, the friendly bartenders will gladly whip up a whisky-based cocktail for you to enjoy — with the classic Whisky Sour as our favourite, of course.

Meanwhile, those who have already acquired the taste of whisky, and the flavour nuances each brand offers, can choose from options from The Wall's rare whisky collection. Here, prized bottles include the Yamazaki 50yrs, which was distilled in 1961, (Crystal) Black Bowmore 29yrs 1st edition, and The Macallan 1948 Select Reserve 51yrs.

What sets The Wall apart from other whisky bars in Singapore is the novel concept of pairing it with a comprehensive sumiyaki menu, with an assortment of skewered meats availble to be enjoyed on their own or eaten alongside a particular whisky variety. In addition, small bar bites like the Miso Nachos, Fugu Mirin Bushi, and seasonal menu additions help keep the dining and drinking experience light and enjoyable.
